Hope for the Future

Over the course of the past two years, our world has been turned upside down. Many have suffered through illness, either their own or someone dear to them. Covid-19 has ravaged our world and, more particularly, our country. Many, if not most of us experienced the death of a loved one or a close friend as a result of this pandemic. To say it has been a trying time would not do justice to the reality of our experience.

But thankfully, we have a great hope that cannot be taken from us. No matter what is going on around us, we can rest assured knowing that God is in control. We can be comforted by the fact that we have a great hope for the future that does not change as our struggles arise. In 1 Thessalonians 4:13, Paul wrote, “But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.”

Many are grieving the loss of someone dear to them. But for the Christian, grief is different. We understand that this world is not all there is. We understand that God has prepared an eternal home for us. Therefore, our grief is different. Those outside of Christ, those who fail to acknowledge Him, are left without hope for the future. Be we have a great hope in Christ, an eager expectation of an eternal home.
